The first step to learning good lindy hop

The basic rhythm of the 6 county lindy hop is the fun first step in learning good Lindy Hop. A necessity for beginners trying to survive on the social dance floor.

6 count Lindy is similar to the East Coast Swing in rhythm and basic fundamentals: unlike East Coast it is characterized by its linear patterns, passes, turns and iconic swivel movements.

As early as 1915, Southern Californians have been dancing their very own form of swing known as the Balboa. This dance incorporates intricate footwork with smooth body movements, creating a fast paced glide. The Balboa gained worldwide popularity throughout the 30's and 40's, and is still danced today anywhere swing dancing is appreciated. One of the most important classes for dancing with a partner.

We teach a series of exercises to build counter balance, connection, and timing.

Leaders will learn to make decisions and followers will learn to be responsive. Some tiopics that are covered will be; rock-steps, kicks, triple steps, turns, passes, holds, and breaks.
